Ohh Deer opened in Ipswich in 2017 selling quirky cards and stationery as part of a wider online and wholesale offer, which includes supplying cards to retailers such as Paperchase, Waterstones and Sainsbury’s. It also runs its successful stationery subscription box service, Papergang. It also has a store in Loughborough.

A statement released on May 13 by co-founders Mark Callaby and Jamie Mitchell, who was on the 2019 judging panel for Stationery Show London’s LaunchPad competition, said: “Due to the decline of retail over the years, we will sadly be closing our Ipswich store on May 21.”

The statement went on to say: "We love the high street and will continue to support it by working with our lovely retail customers and creating awesome products for them to sell.

"Thank you for all the support you have given us and please help us to keep the high street alive, even if you just need to buy a card.”

Ohh Deer recently launched its pledge to remove the plastic cellophane wrap from individual greeting cards by the end of 2019. They have also committed to eliminating the use of foil glitter on cards, replacing it with environmentally friendly paper glitter.

The brand is a huge success with millennials as it has used technology and social media since the start to build a loyal tribe of stationery fans. It has more than 290,000 followers on Instagram and more than 250,000 on Facebook.
