The adhesives manufacturer tesa has announced a shift in focus towards producing environmentally friendly stationery and craft essentials with the launch of its new ecoLogo® range of products. The brand’s ecoLogo® range makes it one of the first in the adhesive technology sector to produce innovative, environmentally adhesive product. The brand says it has done so to meet consumer demand.

The ecoLogo® range is 100% solvent-free and made mostly from recycled or bio-based materials – including the core and packaging - to minimise the use of limited resources like crude oil. The assortment includes the refillable tesa® Glue Roller, the precise triangular tesa® Easy Stick with 100% recycled plastic housing (see photo), the award-winning tesa® Glue Stamp with recycled cardboard packaging, and tesafilm® Mini Dispenser that includes 100% recycled tesafilm® adhesive tape.

The brand says a conscious effort has been made to ensure the products bearing the ecoLogo® have a reduced carbon footprint throughout all stages of their lifecycle. With the 100% recycled housing, the tesa Glue Sticks ecoLogo® assortment shows a decrease in carbon footprint of 25 – 32% compared to the non-recycled version.

Phil Johnson, key account manager, tesa UK, comments: “By focusing on developing sustainable solutions, tesa is delivering a competitive advantage in a demanding application area. We’re proud to be the first manufacturer to have been awarded the DIN CERTCO certification seal ‘DIN-certified recycled content’ for two of our ecoLogo® products, tesafilm® eco & clear and tesapack® eco & strong.

“tesapack® eco & strong is our environment-friendly alternative among the tesapack® range of packaging tapes, made from 100% recycled plastic. While it neither contains any PVC nor any toxic solvents, this sealing tape offers excellent long-time qualities and superior adhesion on just about any packaging material,” concluded Phil.

The ecoLogo® products also expand into other sustainable adhesive assortments, for production, supply chain, repairing, and renovating as well as office supplies to assist companies’ environmental targets.
