Designer, Fleur Ward, has released a stationery range as part of her Ohh Fleur! brand, making all of her popular wallpaper designs available as wrapping paper and blank cards.
New Zealand born, Australian raised interior designer Fleur Ward has called London home for 20 years. Design is all she has ever done and her 25 years in the industry consists of designing hotels abroad, sales for Mulberry Home and Rubelli fabrics UK, before starting her own interior design business in 2007. Fleur founded her brand Ohh Fleur! in 2018 after struggling to find wallpapers for her own interior design projects.
“I was designing kid’s rooms for clients and felt that the majority of kids collections were very twee and childish, for example rockets and dinosaurs” says Fleur. “There wasn’t anything aimed at the teen market or anything cheeky and playful for adults. When a commercial project unexpectedly cancelled in the spring of 2018, I had the time to train and create my collection. I launched the wallpapers at Top Drawer 2018 and the fabrics at 100% Design 2019.”
“It was during Top Drawer that I met a number of stationery buyers who were very interested in my designs on wrap and cards” Fleur explains. “It was very easy to transition and add these products to the Ohh Fleur! brand. I personally love bold wrapping paper and feel the gift starts there.”
“All of my designs have a theme, strong message or 80’s reference aimed at teens and funky adults. Every design has a piece of me in them - design can be taken seriously but I always want to inject some fun into it.”
The wrapping paper is available in 70cm x 50cm sheets of 100gsm paper, retailing at £2.50 per sheet, and the greetings cards retail at £2.99 each. Both are designed and printed in South London.
“Sustainability and longevity is important so care is taken to use eco-friendly inks, paper and cloth” say Fleur. “Made in the UK is something I’m very proud of. It would be cheaper to go abroad but I prefer to support UK suppliers and retain quality for my customer base.”
