Luxury stationery boutique Quill London announces its first festival of modern calligraphy will take place in the capital throughout October.

Calligraphy is currently enjoying a huge surge in popularity thanks to events like World Calligraphy Day, set to take place for the second year running on 15 August at The Pen Museum in Birmingham, and now this new month-long festival announced by chic London boutique Quill.

Quill London already hosts a variety of regular workshops, including brush calligraphy classes, ’how to turn your calligraphy into a business’ and full-day events for beginners to learn modern calligraphy.

Lucy Edmonds, founder of Quill London, told Stationery Matters the October calligraphy festival “will offer an exciting special programme of events throughout the month, including free drop-in classes, an embroidered calligraphy workshop, and a coloured ink lab where customers can come in store and make their own bespoke ink colour.

“There will also be an exhibition of modern calligraphy pieces from our favourite artists from around the world, including Betty Soldi, Veronica Halim, Maybelle Imasa and Lisa Mavian… a limited edition collaboration with Tom’s Studio and more!”

The full festival programme will be revealed over the coming weeks on the company’s newsletter.
