Children’s art and stationery products manufacturer Crayola has announced that Rich Wuerthele, an executive with more than 30 years in the consumer goods industry, will be its new CEO, effective January 16, 2020.
The appointment comes after Hallmark-owned Crayola’s former chief executive Smith Holland took up the position of president at Hallmark Greetings last July.
Rich Wuerthele will join Crayola from Newell Brands, where he has been the CEO of its Home Fragrance portfolio, which includes the Yankee Candle brand. Before his spell in Home Fragrance, Wuerthele was CEO of Newell’s Outdoor and Recreation business.
"Throughout his career, Rich has been a strong builder of teams that develop high performance cultures. His experiences in product innovation, commercialising a wide range of products, and building brands runs deep," says Mike Perry, president and CEO at Hallmark. "He is an insightful and thoughtful leader with a thirst for creativity and innovation."
"I am honoured to join a company with such a rich history and look forward to advancing Crayola’s mission to bring colour and creativity to children around the world," said Rich Wuerthele.
