Literature, libraries and beloved authors inspire a new stationery collection launched by The British Library, part of the cultural institution’s new wholesale business.
The famous Bloomsbury Group of authors, Alice in Wonderland and the iconic pre-digital ‘stamped’ library card all form part of the British Library’s new range of stationery and gift accessories.
Based at the British Library shop’s St Pancras location, in the neighbourhood of the Bloomsbury Group, the new collection is aimed at the literary crowd and book lovers.
Brixton-based design studio LucyLovesThis created the Literary London range for the British Library, which includes a tote bag featuring an illustrated map of the British Library’s Bloomsbury location, as well as a card holder, bookmark, cushion, wash bag, mini jigsaw and tea towel.
The new collection also includes the Quotes range, described as ‘refined stationery’: pencils, bookmarks and notebooks featuring inspiring literary quotations from Albert Einstein, Thomas Jefferson and Ernest Hemingway.
Also available are prints, bookmarks, tote bags, tea towels and other gifts in the Alice in Wonderland range, designed exclusively for the British Library by Lucy Depardieu, a graphic design and illustration graduate from London.
The British Library has also launched its British Library Building range to celebrate being granted Grade I listed status by Historic England for its St Pancras building, the youngest building ever to have been awarded a Grade I listing. Items include a pencil, bookmark, pocket mirrors and card holders, with designs inspired by key architectural features of the building. All items are available in the British Library shop at St Pancras, and as wholesale.
