Lagom Design launches folky Swedish floral design

Midsummer is the inspiration for Swedish artist Monika Forsberg’s new Midsommardagen collection for Hove-based Lagom Design.

The team at Lagom feel a special affinity with Sweden as the name ‘Lagom’ derives from a Swedish word meaning ‘not too much, not too little, everything in perfect balance.’ The Swedes have a natural respect for the balance of nature, and this is reflected in the country’s midsummer celebrations.

Monika Forsberg, the artist who created the designs for the Midsommardagen collection, grew up in Sweden, where friends and families celebrate the height of summer with flowers, dancing, eating herrings and drinking beer.

Monika used a combination of marker and ink brush pens, watercolour pencils, gouache and surgical scissors to create the collection for Lagom Design. Although Monika now calls London home, having studied at Camberwell College of Arts, she still draws upon her Swedish roots for creative inspiration.
