The John Lewis Partnership announced on 4 February that Nina Bhatia will join its executive team as executive director, strategy & commercial development.
Bhatia will join on 17 February, reporting to chairman Sharon White.
Bhatia holds a double First-Class degree in Law from Cambridge University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is recognised as a leader in disruptive, digitally led businesses as well as established service organisations.
Most recently she was MD of Hive, one of Europe’s largest connected home businesses, and part of Centrica. Before Hive, she led one of British Gas’s home services businesses.
Bhatia brings deep strategy experience to her new role, having been a Partner at McKinsey & Co. for more than 10 years, working with clients in the consumer, energy, healthcare and public sectors.
Nina Bhatia said: “I am delighted to be joining the Partnership. The business’s purpose and its two incredibly strong brands resonate strongly with me.
“Working with Partners across the business, I look forward to developing a strategy for the Partnership that is relevant to our customers, is built on trust and delivers commercial value.”
Chairman Sharon White said: “Nina brings tremendous commercial and strategic experience and will play a crucial role as part of the newly formed Future Partnership Executive team.”
The new appointment comes during a period of instability for the John Lewis Partnership executive team, with John Lewis’s customer director Craig Inglis the latest executive to resign, less than a month after the surprise departure of long-serving John Lewis managing director Paula Nickolds.
