The Giftware Association announced the winners of the 41st Gift of the Year awards at the NEC in Birmingham during the first day of Spring Fair, Sunday 3 February.

The finalists for each of the 20 categories had fought off stiff competition, with the judges scrutinising more than 1,100 entries before selecting their winners.

The Gift Association’s CEO, Sarah Ward, introduced the awards ceremony, commenting: “I can proudly state the industry we all love is in a very good place indeed. This, despite reports about the failing high streets, empty shopping centres, rising operating costs and the ‘B’ word.

“I want to replace Brexit with other ‘B’ words which I think are more relevant to this trade show and this evening’s celebration: bold, brave, brilliant, and British.”

Stationery Show London sponsored the Cards & Wrap category, won by The Handcrafted Card Co for its Pin & Ink range of cards with enamel badges.

In the Design & Craft category, Paper Mirchi took the prize for the second year running for its handmade gift wrap, pipping Clockwork Soldier to the post for its Citygami London design, which was the overall winner of the Gift Stationery category.
