The Royal Mail has launched a new set of Star Wars stamps, available from next month, featuring classic and new characters, to mark the release of the latest movie, ’Star Wars: The Last Jedi’, which is due out in December.
The stamps feature pictures of droids and aliens from the movie franchise - and have hidden details that are only visible under ultraviolet light. Characters include favourites such as Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker’s loyal companion R2-D2 and nervous droid C-3PO; one stamp will feature a new alien from the latest movie known as a Porg.
The stamps, which most commentators think are set to become major collectors’ items, have been illustrated by Malcolm Tween, a British artist who also designed a set of stamps in 2015 for the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The Royal Mail say the stamps celebrate the major contribution British film-makers and actors have had to the movie franchise.
They will be on sale from October and can be ordered online or at a Post Office.
